So, I know it probably looks like I’m missing targets left, right and centre and then having to make it up for them, but I’ve been trying to build up my stamina, and thus, I have a running overall word count total that I’m trying to hit.
While the daily word count never changes, the overall sometimes isn’t as high, if I’ve gotten ahead of myself. I feel like this is a good way to avoid burnout, on days where maybe I don’t have a lot of free time or energy (or like likely, taken down by illness several times or out of the country), so these easier days allow for a bit of breathing space before hitting it hard again the next day.
The goal is to eventually hit three to five thousand words a day, with an option, if I’m doing this full time (which by that point, I really hope so), to go to six or seven thousand or more.
Which is crazy, but for my pace, it’s only about five or six hours. If I’ve done a good enough job to do this full time, well, that’s hardly a difficult pace. It just replaces a normal workday, with some extra free time (unless I want to ease up on weekends and do a little more during the week, in which case, it’s the same).
Anyway, who knows?
It might not work, but as long as I’m writing, I’m happy, even if it’s only eighty-three words.
