running out of time

My god, deadlines are hard. Also, I do recall chastising myself for burnout the last time I tossed it all and started over; it’s supposed to be forward progress, not hard lines.

Remember, dork. It’s supposed to be fun.

sunday, sunday

Today, we feast.

Not for Christmas or whatever, but just because.

Tuscan chicken in a sun-dried tomato cream sauce, garlic spinach, arugula with a high quality balsamic vinaigrette, Italian vegetable soup and marinated mozzarella cubes.

I do like to cook. Would that I had the time and money to do it right, on the regular.

Fucking cost of living bullshit.

Fucking time of living bullshit.

Why can’t we all just be dead, happy and full?

funny how you can’t remember stuff

I completely blanked on the concept of a truck bed. What it was called, anything.

I literally had to google it.

Some days, brain no function. Thinkee bad.

final draft 2

I’ve got thirteen days before I hit my self-imposed deadline.

So far, the first couple of scenes, I think they’re pretty tight.

The problem is, I know there’s at least two that need dramatic overhaul.

Not in content necessarily, but in execution. Can I handle that before Christmas?

I guess we’ll find out.

final draft

I mean, there’s the manuscript after, but I finished this in six (seven, if you count the manuscript, which I do), which better than the thirteen drafts it took for The Mungk.

I’m either getting better at this, or sloppier.

I can’t tell which. Part of this feels so sloppy, where The Mungk felt so polished.

Is this turd polished?

Is it a turd?

Fuck, it’s a turd.

Goddamnit.

overpowered by funk

I’m having a hard time with my playlist for Bad Neighbours.

Some songs suggested themselves immediately, as they often do, but my editing and writing has been snippets here and there, and not set to music as it usually is, so the opportunity for those happy accidents, where a song comes on while in the middle of a scene and matches it so well it can’t not be used, are few and far between.

(See Run, Alice, Mungk).

Anyway, I’ve got one more scene to go before I start the final draft, and goshdarnit, I’m going to get some goddamn music in these ears.

For reals.

supermooned

Good god, it’s bright as hell in here. Supermoon and a fresh snowfall means weird dreams and little sleep.

Great. Just great.

maybe i did good?

It still seems like this has a long way to go, but I’m determined that the next draft is the last before manuscript.

Everyone needs a bandaid ripped off eventually.
